Bhind (MP), May 12 (PTI) Three persons, including a man and his son, were killed and as many others were injured when a pick-up truck carrying devotees crashed into a tree near a temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district on Tuesday morning, police said.
The accident occurred around 5.30 am near the ancient Dandraua Hanuman Temple on the Mau-Mehgaon Road, an official said.
The pick-up truck carrying eight persons lost control and dashed into a tree on the roadside, killing three of the occupants on the spot, Mehgaon sub-divisional officer (SDOP) Sanjay Kocha said.
The deceased have been identified as Pritam Singh Manjhi (55), his son Sunil (27), and Upendra Rana (38), he said, adding that three others who sustained injuries are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gwalior.
The SDOP said that the victims, all residents of Gwalior, had come to visit the temple and were preparing to travel to the cattle market in Uttar Pradesh.
A woman and a child travelling in the vehicle are reported to be safe, he said.
Personnel from Mehgaon police station sent the bodies for post-mortem, and have initiated a probe, the official said.
He said that, as per preliminary information, the driver might have been speeding and lost control of the vehicle. PTI COR MAS ARU
