Surendranagar (Gujarat), Sep 26 (PTI) Three persons were killed after a minivan crashed into a truck parked on the roadside in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
The deceased included two occupants of the minivan and the cleaner of the truck, who got electrocuted while escaping towards a nearby farm after the accident in Dasada taluka, they said.
The crash occurred around 4.30 am near Panva village on the Sankheshwar-Panva Road when the minivan hit the rear of the truck, which was parked on the roadside after developing a puncture, an official from Dasada police station told PTI.
“Around six people were travelling in the minivan. The person sitting next to the driver died on the spot, while four to five others sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital, where one of them died during treatment,” the official said.
According to preliminary findings, the occupants of the minivan were from Mumbai and were travelling towards the Sankheshwar Jain temple. Their identities are yet to be ascertained, police said.
The truck cleaner, Suresh Makwana (21), was running towards a nearby farm when he was electrocuted, the official said, adding that a probe is underway. PTI KVM ARU
