Kozhikode (Keralam), Aug 28 (PTI) Three people, including two minors, drowned in separate incidents at Vadakara and Koduvally here on Friday, police said.
In one of the incidents, two people drowned in the Chovva river at Maniyur near Vadakara this evening, they said.
The deceased were identified as Nabeel (19) and Sinan (12), both natives of Orkkatteri near Vadakara.
According to police, a four-member group entered the river to learn swimming.
All four got caught in the strong current, but two managed to escape.
Nabeel was found during a search by locals and rushed to Vadakara Cooperative Hospital in a critical condition, where he died.
Sinan was found around 6 pm during a joint search by locals and Fire and Rescue Service personnel, but he could not be saved.
In another incident, a 15-year-old boy drowned at a waterbody at Manipuram near Koduvally, here on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Shahin.
The boy was traced following a search by Fire and Rescue Service personnel and taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead, police said. PTI TBA TBA ROH
