New Delhi: Amid a raging political row over his unpublished memoir ‘Four Stars of Destiny’, former Army chief General M.M. Naravane has broken his silence. In a short post on X, Naravane reposted the statement released by publisher Penguin Random House India (PRHI), and wrote, “This is the status of the book.”
PRHI stated Monday that Naravane’s memoir—quoted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha last week—has not been published and warned of legal action against its unauthorised circulation.
“No copies of the book—in print or digital form—have been published, distributed, sold, or otherwise made available to the public by Penguin Random House India,” read the statement.

The statement came after the parliamentary furore last week, when Rahul sought to read from a news article in The Caravan magazine carrying excerpts from the book, inviting repeated objections from Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah.
The excerpts were about the decision-making process around the Rechin La tensions between India and China and the use of tank columns.
