Thane, May 11 (PTI) Thane Collector Shrikrishna Panchal on Monday directed government agencies to remain alert and ordered safety audits of all dangerous bridges, culverts, and dilapidated buildings ahead of the monsoon season.
Chairing a monsoon preparedness meeting, the collector emphasised robust disaster management and asked officials to increase the number of disaster volunteers to ensure immediate assistance during emergencies.
The Public Works Department (PWD) was directed to complete safety audits of all dangerous bridges, culverts, and dilapidated buildings, and the Water Resources Department is tasked with physical inspections of dams, the official said.
The fire brigade, police, and health departments have been asked to conduct “colour rehearsals” in every taluka to test system mobility, he said.
Panchal also reviewed landslide-prone villages and flood-prone areas, confirming that the District Planning Committee would provide funds for necessary rescue equipment, the official said. PTI COR ARU
