Hyderabad, May 27 ( PTI) Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya Seethakka on Tuesday inaugurated a state-run working women’s hostel ‘Sakhi Nivas’ here, aimed at providing safe and affordable accommodation for rural women moving to Hyderabad in search of employment.
Congress Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, MLA Danam Nagender and several other leaders were present at the inauguration of the hostel at Banjara Hills here.
Speaking on the occasion, Seethakka said the hostel currently accommodates about 150 women.
She said special arrangements have been made in the hostel for the stay of women who are young mothers.
Highlighting the measures initiated by the Congress government for promoting women Self Help Groups (SHGs), she said the limit of interest-free loans for the groups has been increased from Rs five lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The government is taking steps to enable the women SHGs to set up rice mills, petrol bunks and super markets, she added. PTI SJR ROH
