Hyderabad, Apr 15 (PTI) Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday said the state government would transform Hyderabad’s iconic heritage sites into world-class tourist destinations.
Rao, who conducted a comprehensive inspection of the precincts of Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace and other historic structures here, said special master plans are being drafted to position Hyderabad as a premier destination on the global tourism map.
He said the development of tourism hubs across the state is being streamlined under the new tourism policy.
By adopting a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for infrastructure development, the government aims to maximise revenue while simultaneously creating sustainable employment opportunities for local communities, he said.
Highlighting the government’s conservation efforts, Rao said the Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSDA) has sanctioned Rs 3.64 crore for the restoration of the historic ‘Machli Kaman’ (a historic arch).
The minister also directed officials to take up the renovation of the ‘Sher-e-Batil’ Kaman (arch) and beautification of the fountain near Charminar to enhance its aesthetic appeal for visitors. PTI SJR SJR KH
