New Delhi: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and producer Karan Johar are all set to release a reprised version of the song Teri Mitti from the movie Kesari at 12.30 pm Friday, as an ode to frontline healthcare workers battling Covid-19.
The remodelled song has been produced by Zee music.
A snippet of the song posted Thursday by Kumar, Johar and Parineeti Chopra on Twitter goes like this: “The uniform which was khaki on the borders of India, is now white.”
Sharing the snippet, Johar wrote: “They are fighting to keep us safe and for that we are forever grateful. A tribute from our hearts to theirs, #TeriMitti.”

Kumar, who was the protagonist in Kesari, noted: “Someone once rightly said that during tough times, only your close ones support you. And during this difficult period, our doctors in white are at the forefront protecting us. They are no less than our soldiers.”

The original Teri Mitti song was released in 2019 and starred Chopra and Kumar in the lead roles. The movie is a historical action drama about the Battle of Saragarhi.

B-town’s previous initiatives
Earlier this month, Kumar, along with other Bollywood actors, starred in a song called Muskurayega India in an attempt to give hope to Indians amid the testing times of Covid-19.
The song begins with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first televised address to the nation on Covid-19, assuring citizens of emerging victorious from these trying times.
PM Modi had on 14 April extended the nationwide lockdown till 3 May due to a surge in Covid-19 cases. The novel coronavirus has so far infected more than 16,000 people in India and led to the deaths of over 680.
