New Delhi: When people across the country observed the ‘janata curfew’ Sunday and applauded health care workers, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan put out a message on how to deal with the pandemic.

Using snippets of clips from his movies, Khan’s video message goes back to the basics of what to do, and not to do, to stay healthy.

“InshaAllah #JantaCurfew will help against the spread of the virus, though we may have to do this again. The clapping brought so much cheer. So a reminder of safeguards, with some cheer,” he posted.

Measures, symptoms & SRK movies

Acknowledging that it can be confusing with so much information, and misinformation, available, Khan detailed the basic precautionary measures to follow.

Using clips from movies such as Dil Se, Yes Boss, Kal Ho Na Ho, Fan and Raees, interspersed with some of his quintessential humour, Khan listed out symptoms to look out for — cough, fever, fatigue and sore throat — and urged people to “consult and rely on (their) doctors for the right information”.

He advised people to avoid large groups and touching their faces. He also suggested regularly disinfecting places of regular contact. While he urged for a thorough hygiene routine, he also maintained that saving water is a must.

Khan also talked about the increasing influx of disinformation and appealed to people to check for reliable facts from the state and central government or local authorities.

He ended his message with a few tunes from the iconic song ‘Smoke on the Water’ by British rock band Deep Purple.

Bollywood spreads awareness

Khan isn’t the only Bollywood celebrity doing his bit to spread awareness. Last week, actor Deepika Padukone put up a video of herself performing the “Safe-Hands” challenge. Cricketer Virat Kohli and actors Anushka Sharma, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan also urged people to stay at home.

As the total number of cases crossed 400 Monday morning, with seven confirmed fatalities, the central and various state governments put in place lockdowns till 31 March to contain the spread of the virus.
