Hyderabad, Nov 3 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to furnish all information sought by Maharashtra and continue consultations with the neighbouring state on the proposed Tummidihetti barrage.
The directions followed Revanth Reddy’s talks with his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis on October 26 on increasing the height of Telangana’s Tummidihetti project on the Godavari River from 148 metres to 152 metres.
Telangana is seeking Maharashtra’s consent as the proposed barrage would cause submergence in the neighbouring state.
The CM, who held a meeting with irrigation officials on Tuesday, instructed them to prepare comprehensive details of the areas that would face submergence, a press release said.
Revanth Reddy emphasised that all relevant documents, including existing agreements and details of other important issues, should be exchanged with the Maharashtra government.
He said the government was prepared to provide adequate compensation for lands in Maharashtra that would face submergence and was also willing to deposit funds in a joint account of the two state governments.
The CM said Telangana would have no objection to Maharashtra conducting its own survey to assess the possible submergence.
On October 26, Revanth Reddy thanked Fadnavis for positively considering Telangana’s request to increase the height of the proposed Tummidihetti project from 148 metres to 152 metres. PTI SJR SSK
