Hyderabad, Apr 23 (PTI) Telangana is taking calibrated steps to position itself not merely as a manufacturing base but as a global engineering and innovation hub, Minister for IT and Industries D Sridhar Babu said on Thursday.
Speaking after inaugurating Lean manufacturing facility for Baker Hughes at the Azad Centre of Excellence and Innovation in the TGIIC Industrial Park in Siddipet district, he said the state government is focusing on developing dedicated industrial parks for precision engineering industries to strengthen the “Made in Telangana” brand globally, an official release said.
The newly inaugurated facility, spread over 7,600 square metres, will manufacture high-precision components for Baker Hughes’ Industrial and Energy Technology (IET) division and is expected to generate employment for over 230 skilled personnel, it said.
The Minister said the decision of global companies such as Baker Hughes to choose Hyderabad for their “Make in India” initiatives reflects Telangana’s growing stature in the industrial sector.
Highlighting the state’s industrial ecosystem, he said Telangana, with more than 1,500 MSMEs, is emerging as a hub for high-precision manufacturing.
He also emphasised the need to develop advanced technologies in the backdrop of changing geopolitical conditions, particularly to strengthen national security.
Sridhar Babu assured that the state government would continue to extend support and incentives to industries investing in Telangana.
According to the company, Baker Hughes operates in over 120 countries across sectors, including oilfield services and equipment, industrial and energy technology, and digital solutions. PTI VVK VVK ADB
