Shimla, Jun 22 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said financial assistance of Rs 137.40 crore has been approved for widening the Chail Chowk-Janjehli road in Mandi district.

The chief minster said that in view of the extensive damage caused during the 2025 monsoon disaster and to further strengthen connectivity in Mandi district, the state government prioritized the 83-kilometre road project and submitted it under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund.

Interacting with a delegation from the Seraj Assembly constituency in Mandi district, Sukhu also announced financial assistance for the maintenance and strengthening of several roads in Seraj, according to an official statement.

The assistance includes Rs 10 lakh for the Nauna-Chhalaila-Vinidhar road, Rs 20 lakh for the Balichowki-Khloa-Sharsh road, Rs 10 lakh for the Nauna-Bharari road, Rs 10 lakh for the Khanethi-Khoohan road and Rs 10 lakh for the Hanogi-Shaloi-Chhamar road.

Sukhu said that the Seraj Assembly Constituency had suffered significant damage during the disaster and that he had personally visited the affected areas to assess the situation.

Himachal Pradesh experienced two of its most devastating monsoon seasons on record in 2023 and 2025, which caused unprecedented infrastructural and financial losses. Both seasons triggered severe flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts that claimed hundreds of lives and severely damaged the state’s fragile ecosystem. PTI BPL MDO MDO
