Bilaspur (HP), Jul 4 (PTI) With monsoon rains pounding Himachal Pradesh, Karyal village of the state’s Bilaspur district has started sinking, locals have claimed The village in Kasaru Panchayat of Ghumarwin subdivision is where a massive landslide in 2018 forced seven families to abandon their homes.

The latest subsidence has once again struck fear among the villagers.

Due to soil slippage and cracks, the administration has barred the Badhaghat-Sohni Devi road for heavy vehicles.

“We have received reports of land subsidence in Karyal village. The site will soon be inspected,” Sub divisional magistrate Gaurav Chaudhary said on Saturday.

Locals also fear damage to a 33 KV electricity substation which is under construction in the panchayat.

They have urged the administration to immediately dispatch geologists to the site to inspect the affected area and implement permanent measures.

Monsoon has only just begun, and a major accident could occur if safety measures are not taken in time, villagers say. PTI COR BPL VN VN
