New Delhi, Aug 27 (PTI) A three-year-old girl was attacked and allegedly bitten by a stray dog in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh, with visuals showing the canine lunging at her near a parked car before fleeing as a family member chased it away.
The incident occurred in the CA Block area on August 25, where the white dog is frequently seen, according to residents.
CCTV footage captures the moment the girl was walking with her family toward their car when the dog, which had been sitting under another vehicle, suddenly emerged and attacked her.
A family member swiftly pulled the girl away while chasing the dog, which managed to escape down the lane. Another CCTV clip from the vicinity also documented the same dog attacking a woman walking through the area before fleeing.
The footage also showed several stray dogs roaming the same stretch.
An official from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) stated that teams from the Keshavpuram zone attempted to catch the dog on two occasions, but it evaded capture both times.
“Both times, the dog ran away. Dogs have a particular sense of smell, and when they see nets or a group of people, they become alert and flee,” the official said.
The MCD is currently seeking assistance from a local to catch the dog and plans to place it under observation at the Dwarka shelter. “We are making efforts to capture the dog, and our team is likely to succeed by tomorrow,” the official added.
The official also noted that the civic body receives approximately 20 to 25 complaints of stray dog attacks from the same area on a daily basis.
