Morena, Sep 5 (PTI) Three women returning from Krishna Janmashtami celebrations were crushed to death by a speeding truck on a national highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district, police said on Saturday.
The Delhi-bound truck ploughed into the women near a temple on National Highway 44 before veering off and crashing into roadside shops late on Friday night, Civil Lines police station house officer Udaybhan Singh Yadav told PTI.
The victims, including a woman and her daughter-in-law, were returning to their homes in Harphool Ka Pura village after attending a Krishna Janmashtami celebration, he said.
Yadav said that the truck ran over the trio, killing them on the spot, before crashing into roadside shops and damaging them.
The bodies were sent to the district hospital for postmortem, he said, adding that a case has been registered and the truck driver was detained.
Traffic on NH-44 was disrupted for some time following the accident, and the movement was restored after the truck was removed from the road. PTI COR LAL ARU
