Jabalpur, Apr 22 (PTI) A car driven by a man in an inebriated condition killed two persons and seriously injured another in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around Tuesday midnight near Dhanvantari Nagar Chowk under the jurisdiction of Gadha police station, an official said.
According to City Superintendent of Police Ashish Jain, a 38-year-old man, identified as Gopal Prasad Kumhar, and his son Shubham (15) had come to the area to attend a wedding.
On their way back to their hometown, Maharajpur, Gopal stopped his motorcycle in front of a shop to buy water.
The father and son were standing near their bike when a recklessly driven car hit the duo and a 30-year-old man, Pankaj Sahu, who too had stopped at the spot with his two-wheeler, Jain said.
After being alerted, police rushed the three to the hospital, where doctors declared Pankaj and Gopal dead. The condition of Shubham remains critical, he said.
The car driver, a resident of Ranjhi area, was sent for a medical test, which confirmed that he was drunk, the official said.
A case of culpable homicide was registered against the accused car driver, who was subsequently arrested, he added. PTI COR MAS NR
