Amaravati, Jun 29 (PTI) SpaceFields Pvt Ltd, a deep-tech aerospace and defence startup, will establish an advanced solid propellant (rocket fuel) processing facility in Andhra Pradesh.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru-incubated company has received approval for the allotment of 121 acres at the industrial park in Thimmasamudram in Anantapur district, according to a press release issued on Monday.

“SpaceFields Pvt Ltd, one of India’s emerging deep-tech aerospace and defence startups, will establish an advanced Solid Propellant (Rocket Fuel) Processing Facility in Andhra Pradesh, strengthening the country’s indigenous capabilities in strategic propulsion technologies,” it said.

The facility is expected to generate around 300 direct high-skilled jobs, with commercial production targeted to begin by July 2028.

The startup develops next-generation rocket propulsion systems and solid propellants for defence, aerospace and space applications.

SpaceFields’ proposal was cleared by the State Investment Promotion Committee and the State Investment Promotion Board after a detailed technical evaluation, the release said.

Given the specialised nature of energetics manufacturing and India’s stringent safety regulations, the project requires a large dedicated manufacturing campus with extensive safety buffers, it added.

To facilitate the project, the Andhra Pradesh government will provide external infrastructure, including water supply, high-voltage power connectivity and road access to the site.

“The next generation of manufacturing will be driven by deep-tech companies working at the intersection of defence, space and advanced engineering. SpaceFields is a great example of this new India,” IT Minister Nara Lokesh said.

The SpaceFields facility is expected to further strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position as a destination for advanced aerospace, defence and space manufacturing, while supporting India’s broader objective of achieving technological self-reliance in critical strategic sectors, it added. PTI STH SSK
