Chandigarh, Jun 25 (PTI) The house-to-house enumeration exercise under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls commenced across Punjab on Thursday, with 24,453 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) beginning visits to households.

The exercise, scheduled from June 25 to July 24, aims to cover more than 2.14 crore voters in Punjab, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra filled her enumeration form on Thursday with her family members and urged citizens to cooperate with BLOs visiting their homes for the distribution and collection of forms.

She noted that the first day of the exercise witnessed the successful distribution of enumeration forms across the state.

Mitra advised voters to keep a recent colour photograph ready, fill and sign the form, and hand it over to the BLO while retaining the second copy for future reference.

She informed that if a house is locked, the BLO will leave the form and paste a sticker indicating the date of the next visit.

BLOs will make up to three visits to collect the forms.

In the absence of a voter, an adult family member may sign the form, mention the relationship to the voter and submit it to the BLO, she added.

The CEO stated that voters can also use the ECINet Mobile App and the “Book a Call with your BLO” facility to contact their BLO directly.

Filled forms may also be submitted online through the ECINet Mobile App or the Voters’ Service Portal, subject to verification by the concerned BLO.

According to the election schedule, rationalisation of polling stations will continue till July 24, while draft electoral rolls will be published on August 3.

Claims and objections can be filed between August 3 and September 2, and will be disposed of by September 28.

The final electoral rolls will be published on October 1, 2026.

Mitra emphasised that public participation is essential for preparing accurate and inclusive electoral rolls and strengthening the democratic process in the state. PTI VSD MPL MPL
