Jaipur, Aug 27 (PTI) An 11-year-old girl and her seven-year-old brother drowned in a rainwater-filled pit at a plot where construction activity was going on in Jaipur on Thursday, police said.
According to police, Alia (11) and her brother Ayan (7) had gone out to play and reached the plot near their home in the Jaisinghpura Khor police station area.
Several pits had been dug at the site using a JCB on Wednesday and they got filled with rainwater following heavy rain. While playing, the two children fell into one of the water-filled pits, they said.
After some time, a passerby noticed the children and raised an alarm. Family members and local residents rushed to the spot and pulled them out of the water.
The family members attempted to revive the children through CPR and took them to a hospital, where doctors declared both dead, police said.
The police said post-mortem examinations were conducted at SMS Hospital and the bodies were handed over to the family. PTI AG NB NB
