New Delhi, Sep 30 (PTI) Students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists took out a protest march from the Salimgarh Flyover to the Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday against incidents of sexual violence against women and minors in the national capital.

The students demanded working street lights and CCTV cameras, functional Pink Booths, student representation in Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) and regular sensitisation programmes across educational institutions and public spaces.

The protest comes days after the alleged gangrape of a 17-year-old girl in Aastha Kunj Park near Lady Shri Ram College. The incident has triggered a series of demonstrations by women students across Delhi University campuses.

The SFI Delhi, in a statement, alleged that several cases of rape and sexual harassment involving minor girls had been reported in the national capital in September.

The students also opposed “restrictions” on women students’ mobility, clothing and movement at night, and called for action against sexual violence instead of curbs. PTI AHD AHD VN

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
