Several OCs, additional OCs of Kolkata Police transferred

Kolkata, Jun 15 (PTI) Kolkata Police has transferred officers-in-charge (OCs) and additional OCs of several police stations, an official said Monday.

Officer-in-Charge of Pragati Maidan police station, Ramachandran Vinod Kumar, has been transferred to the Special Branch, while Babai Bhattacharya, who was serving as additional OC of Bowbazar police station, has replaced Kumar, the official said.

Narkeldanga police station OC Manoj Biswas has been moved to the Special Branch. He will be replaced by Shubhankar Sarkar, who was serving as additional OC of Watgunge police station.

Rajib Sahu, OC of Thakurpukur police station, has been transferred to the Detective department. Traffic department officer Sukhendu Kumar Chail has been appointed in his place.

Silas Toppo, additional OC of Rajabagan police station, has been posted as the new OC at Taratala police station.

Additional OC of Pragati Maidan police station, Parthapratim Chakraborty, has been transferred to Enforcement Branch. Sanat Chattopadhyay, who was posted with the SCO wing, will replace him.

Several officers of the Detective Department have also been assigned new responsibilities. Sushovan Paik has been appointed additional OC of Rajabagan police station, while Srimonkalyan Basu and Fahad Sohel have been posted as additional OCs of Watgunge and Narkeldanga police stations, respectively.

Bandhucharan Pal, who was serving as additional OC of Narkeldanga police station, has been transferred to Bowbazar police station as additional OC.

“A periodic review of postings is undertaken to ensure optimum utilisation of manpower and to meet operational requirements across different units.

The latest transfers are part of that process,” a senior Kolkata Police officer said.

“The reshuffle is intended to strengthen field-level supervision and enhance coordination among various wings of the force. Such administrative changes are a regular feature of police functioning,” the officer added. PTI SCH RG
