Thane, Aug 28 (PTI) Thousands of printed SIR forms were allegedly found at a photocopy shop in Kharghar area of Navi Mumbai on Friday, triggering a clash between Shiv Sena (UBT) and BJP activists and a police investigation, officials said.

The incident occurred after Sena (UBT) workers confronted a man, who they claimed was an office-bearer of the BJP’s Youth Wing, while he was allegedly getting SIR forms photocopied at a shop, police said.

Local police rushed to the scene and took the alleged BJP office-bearer into custody. Authorities also seized thousands of printed SIR forms from the premises and transferred them to the police station.

Sena (UBT) workers, meanwhile, alleged that the detained BJP youth leader managed to flee the Kharghar police station shortly after being brought in for questioning.

The local police are probing the incident, and no case has been registered so far, said a Navi Mumbai police officer. PTI COR NSK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
