Jammu, Apr 19 (PTI) A senior police officer on Sunday reviewed security measures at Mansar Lake, a prominent tourist destination in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Anuj Kumar conducted a comprehensive visit to the tourist place and reviewed the security arrangements put in place for the safety of visiting tourists, a police spokesperson said.

He said the SSP undertook a detailed review of the security arrangements in and around the Mansar area, with special focus on safeguarding tourists and maintaining public order.

The officer inspected deployment patterns, surveillance mechanisms and access control points to ensure a robust security grid is in place, the spokesperson said.

He said the SSP also visited Police Post Mansar, where the functioning of the post was thoroughly reviewed.

Emphasis was laid on maintaining high standards of alertness, prompt response to incidents and effective functioning of Mansar Police checkposts, the spokesman said, adding necessary directions were issued for strict surveillance and efficient delivery of public service.

The SSP also held an interactive meeting with Village Defence Guard (VDG) members.

The role of VDGs in assisting police in maintaining security at the grassroots level was appreciated, and members were encouraged to remain vigilant and proactive, the spokesperson said.

He said the SSP reiterated the importance of coordination between VDGs and local police units to counter any potential threats.

Later, the SSP visited the Nud checkpoint and interacted with the police personnel deployed there.

The personnel were briefed on maintaining strict checking procedures, ensuring smooth flow of traffic and upholding courteous behaviour while dealing with the public, the spokesperson said.

He said the visit underscores the commitment of Samba Police to ensure safety and security across the district, particularly at key tourist locations. PTI TAS TAS HIG HIG
