Chennai, Apr 17 (PTI) The Sankara Nethralaya eye hospital dedicated a floor at its facility here for the Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus department, to the memory of late N Sankar, Chairman, The Sanmar Group, on his first death anniversary on Monday.
It was dedicated in the presence of Chairman, Sankara Nethralaya T S Surendran, director, The Hindu Publishing Group, N Ram, and the family members of N Sankar including Chandra Sankar, his son Vijay Sankar, and his brother N Kumar.
The paediatric department is a highly specialised and advanced eye care facility offering expert diagnosis and treatment for the entire gamut of ophthalmic problems in children belonging to various age groups from just-borns to teens, apart from treating adults with strabismus.
N Sankar had supported Sankara Nethralaya for over three decades. He had contributed to the setting up of refractive surgery / laser vision correction centre, Mrs Madhuram Narayanan Surgical Complex and a block dedicated to the memory of K S Narayanan, his father. Recently, contributions were made to the SN-Sanmar Centre of Excellence for Stevens Johnson Syndrome and towards research equipment and instruments to Vision Research Foundation (VRF) from The Sanmar Group CSR Trust.
