Panchkula, Oct 31 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 151st birth anniversary, emphasising that Patel’s life exemplifies how unwavering resolve and dedication to national interests can turn seemingly impossible goals into reality.
He was addressing a gathering after flagging off the ‘Panchkula Run for Unity’ in Panchkula.
Describing Patel as the architect of India’s unity, the chief minister said he played a decisive role in integrating more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union after Independence through his foresight, administrative acumen and determination.
“He did not merely integrate the princely states but also gave a unified national identity to a fragmented India,” Saini said.
He noted that Patel laid the groundwork for the country’s unity and integrity, stressing that a nation’s strength lies in the trust and unity of its citizens.
Despite the diversity in languages, attire, and traditions, Saini stated that the Constitution, the tricolour flag, and a shared national identity unite Indians like beads in a garland.
Asserting that India’s diversity should be seen not as a weakness but as its greatest strength, he said, “By respecting each other’s cultures and sharing one another’s joys and sorrows, we can truly imbibe Sardar Patel’s legacy in our conduct.”
The chief minister urged the people of Haryana to contribute to building a developed state and a strong, united India.
He also encouraged the youth to be responsible with social media, urging them to verify the authenticity of messages before sharing them and to avoid spreading rumours or content that promotes discrimination.
Saini called the 182-metre-tall ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat a tribute to Sardar Patel’s contributions to nation-building and a reminder of the remarkable heights a united nation can achieve through collective effort and determination.
On the eve of the anniversary of Haryana’s formation day, the chief minister highlighted that serving the nation has always been a matter of pride and a glorious tradition in the state.
“Our soldiers defend the country at its borders, farmers work tirelessly in the fields, and sportspersons bring glory to the Tricolour on international sporting platforms,” he said.
He noted that November 1 will mark 60 years since Haryana’s formation and encouraged everyone to commit to the state’s progress while further strengthening national unity.
On the occasion, Saini also administered the National Unity Day pledge to the participants and other dignitaries present, urging them to uphold the unity, integrity and security of the nation. PTI CHS MPL
