RTC driver attempts self-immolation during protest in Warangal

Hyderabad, Apr 23 (PTI) A 50-year-old RTC driver allegedly set himself ablaze in Warangal district of Telangana on Thursday, police said.

The incident occurred while Telangana RTC employees were staging a protest in support of their demands.

The driver, Shankar Goud, allegedly poured petrol and set himself on fire in front of the Narsampet bus stand, resulting in severe burn injuries.

He has been shifted to the state-run MGM Hospital in Warangal for treatment, a police official said.

The indefinite strike by employees of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation entered its second day on Thursday, forcing passengers to rely on private transport.
