Deoria (UP), May 17 (PTI) A five-year-old boy died while his maternal aunt was critically injured after their bicycle collided head-on with a tractor-trolley near Sisai Dhala in Deoria district, police said on Sunday.
The accident took place when the two were returning from a health facility on Saturday night. While the boy identified as Priyanshu was run over by the tractor-trolley, his aunt Nirasha Kumari felll on the roadside.
Locals rushed them to a hospital where doctors declared Priyanshu dead. Nirasha has been referred to the Medical College, Deoria, for further treatment. The tractor-trolley driver fled from the spot.
Station House Officer of Khukhundu police station Rahul Kumar Singh said the body of the deceased has been sent for a postmortem.
