Patna, Jun 16 (PTI) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Tuesday announced that it will hold statewide demonstrations on Wednesday across all district headquarters in NDA-ruled Bihar to protest alleged atrocities on women, unemployment, rising prices and corruption.

The protests were planned following the directions of the party chief Lalu Prasad, working president Tejashwi Yadav and state president Mangni Lal Mandal.

“The state government has failed to curb inflation, corruption and crimes against women. Financial irregularities and organised corruption are being ignored under the current dispensation,” RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad alleged.

He accused the government of failing to address farmers’ concerns and rising fuel prices, which, he said, were increasing transportation costs and burdening the common people.

Ejaz alleged that despite the “emergence of cases of financial embezzlement” in Bihar, the government remains silent.

Referring to the Bihar tender scam case, he claimed that the government’s administrative failures had been exposed and that reports of senior officials’ involvement were emerging.

Last week, the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) arrested three senior government officials as part of its investigation into the large-scale irregularities in government tenders.

Earlier, tender scam kingpin Rishushri and his close associate Santosh Kumar were arrested in Patna.

Ejaz alleged that “small fishes” were being arrested in the case to protect the “big fish”.

The RJD spokesperson also criticised the government on farmers’ issues, inflation, and lack of development, among other things.

He said that demonstrations on Wednesday will highlight all these issues.

The RJD leader said party MPs, MLAs, MLCs, senior leaders, office-bearers and workers would participate in the demonstrations. PTI SUK NN
