Sagar (MP), Sep 11 (PTI) A resort and four eateries were temporarily sealed on Friday in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district for alleged violation of rules, officials said.
The action — which came in the wake of the death of 16 persons in the district due to the consumption of spurious liquor — was carried out on the directions of Collector Pratibha Pal in Rusalla and Baheria areas as part of a crackdown on illegal commercial activities, they said.
Food safety officials collected samples of paneer, chutney, dal and peanuts from Pathway Retreat Resort; ajwain, butter and chicken from Hotel Jalsa and Restaurant; and paneer and tur dal from Satyam Dhaba Restaurant and Residency. The samples were sent to a laboratory for testing.
The officials found highly unhygienic kitchens at Pathway Retreat and Hotel Jalsa, while the latter also lacked valid food registration documents.
Satyam Dhaba was unable to produce documents related to restaurant operations and safety standards, officials said.
Similar serious lapses in safety and revenue regulations were found at Suruchi Hotel and Highway Hub, they said.
The establishments failed to produce several mandatory permissions and documents, including fire NOCs, building construction approvals, local-body permissions, land diversion orders for commercial use and approved layouts from the Town and Country Planning department, officials said.
Pathway Retreat Resort, Suruchi Hotel, Highway Hub, Hotel Jalsa and Satyam Dhaba were subsequently sealed.
Further action under the Food Safety Act and relevant revenue laws will be taken after the food sample test reports are received, officials said. PTI LAL KRK
