Bengaluru, Aug 13 (PTI) Rapido has received a licence from the Karnataka State Transport Authority to operate cab services in the state, a top official of the company said on Thursday.
The licence was given under the Karnataka On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016.
The licence is valid for five years, until August 2031, and allows Rapido to continue its cab operations under the state’s regulatory framework.
The company has a presence in 21 Karnataka cities, with over 3.14 lakh ‘captains’ and more than 2.04 crore registered customers.
“Karnataka is our home state and one of our most important markets. This development allows us to strengthen our cab offering within a formal regulatory framework, while continuing to work closely with the Government of Karnataka and the Transport Department to support safe, reliable and accessible mobility for commuters,” Rapido Co-founder Pavan Guntupalli said in a statement.
Rapido said more than 69 lakh customers in Karnataka have taken cab rides through its platform. PTI GMS ADB
