Ram Temple donations case: Impose martial law, hand over probe to Army, says Congress

Bhopal, July 1 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Wednesday demanded that the Army investigate the alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple donations embezzlement case and impose martial law in the entire region, claiming that normal agencies will not be able to conduct an impartial probe into the sensitive matter.

The opposition party alleged that the SIT has taken action only against low-rung employees who count donation money, but no FIR has been registered against the main culprits.

The Congress also demanded the dissolution of the current committee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

Former Madhya Pradesh minister P.C. Sharma and state secretary Vikram Mastal addressed a joint press conference at the state Congress office and termed the investigation into the alleged embezzlement a sham.

“Normal investigating agencies will not be able to conduct an impartial investigation in this sensitive matter. Therefore, the Congress demands that the investigation into the Ram Temple scam be handed over to the military (army) by imposing martial law in the entire region,” they said.

The Congress leaders further said: “Only the Army can conduct a thorough, impartial investigation and expose these major culprits by sending them to jail and the gallows.” They said the investigation by the Army is necessary to stop this “cruel joke” played on the faith of millions of Sanatanis and Ram devotees and to ensure that the culprits receive the harshest punishment.

Mastal said that the people trust only the Army in the current scenario.

“Just as the Army’s support and security were used in major scams like NEET, the Army should also be entrusted with the investigation of this massive fund-stealing scam so that the truth can be revealed,” he added.

Mastal said that the current committee of the Ram Temple Trust should be dissolved immediately because it has completely lost its integrity.

Sharma said that the current investigation is merely completing formalities by apprehending less important employees of the Ram temple and those who count cash.

He wondered whether people who merely count money could commit such a massive scam.

The former minister also asked why no action has been taken against high-ranking officials like Trust General Secretary Champat Rai. PTI BNS MAS NSK
