Lucknow, Oct 10 (PTI) Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh on Saturday spoke to a flood-affected resident over a video call to take stock of the situation there and directed officials to ensure that all necessary assistance reaches calamity-hit families.

According to a statement, Singh asked the resident about the flood situation in the affected area and whether relief materials were reaching the families in need.

During the video call made while the BJP workers were distributing relief materials in Bhargava Colony and Ganesh Vihar Colony in Lucknow, Singh also interacted with district administration officials, including the Additional District Magistrate (City) and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar), and directed them to expedite relief and rescue operations.

The Union minister called his Officer on Special Duty, K P Singh, who was coordinating relief efforts on the ground, and asked the team to show him the situation in the affected areas.

The relief teams have been using boats to reach households in waterlogged areas. Food packets, drinking water and other essential supplies are being delivered door to door.

Singh has been regularly contacting officials to monitor the situation. Relief operations are being carried out in coordination with the district administration and the BJP workers, the statement said. PTI CDN RUK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
