Kota, May 31 (PTI) The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a traffic in-charge in Baran city on Sunday after he had allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a transporter, officials said.

The accused Sub-Inspector, identified as Chandraprakash, had demanded the bribe for taking no action against the complainant for the transportation of Bajri and soil by his tractor-trolley. He had already grabbed Rs 27,000 earlier from the same person, police said.

According to Baran Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB, Kaluram Verma, a squad, led by DSP Premchand, arrested the accused from a marketplace after he had allegedly accepted the bribe from a Bajri transporter.

The transporter lodged a complaint with Baran ACB on May 25, alleging that the traffic in-charge had demanded Rs 7,000 monthly for allowing uninterrupted operation of his tractor-trolley for Bajri-soil transportation.

Meanwhile, his Bajri transportation was legal with required documents, the complainant said, claiming that the accused had already grabbed Rs 27,000 as bribe earlier.

Following the complaint, the ACB carried out verification on May 26 and planned the trap, the ASP said.

During the operation, the ACB allegedly caught Chandraprakash red-handed and immediately took him into custody.

The ACB has registered a case against the accused under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further interrogation with him is underway, the ASP said.

Meanwhile, an ACB team is conducting a search operation at the accused inspector’s house in Kota. PTI COR SHS
