Jaipur, May 8 (PTI) Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Tikaram Jully on Friday criticised the BJP government in the state, alleging that the government is ignoring public issues while focusing on publicity-driven events and tours.

“The situation in the state is akin to ‘Rome burning while Nero plays the flute’. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma is busy with ceremonial programmes while people are struggling with basic services and security concerns,” he said.

He said that the chief minister’s tours in different parts of the state were aimed at projecting popularity among party workers and strengthening his image within the party, while ground-level public issues remained unresolved.

Jully referred to the death of two women in a Kota hospital and alleged deterioration in medical services, he said that the chief minister’s “silence” on such issues was surprising.

He claimed that the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) was nearing collapse, causing difficulties for government employees and pensioners due to shortages of medicines and treatment facilities.

The Congress leader also accused the government of delaying panchayat and urban local body elections and alleged that the absence of elected representatives had adversely affected development work and grievance redressal. PTI SDA — MNK MNK
