Jaipur, Apr 29 (PTI) Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Wednesday stressed the need to make legislative committees more effective and functional, and discussed measures to improve accountability and attendance with their chairpersons.
According to an official statement, Devnani said Assembly committees play a crucial role and need to be strengthened to deliver results.
“Legislative committees are important and must be made more effective. Efforts should be made to remove shortcomings and ensure that work is taken to its logical conclusion,” he said.
Describing committees as a “miniature form of the House,” he emphasised the need to make them more active. “The chairpersons must ensure the presence of members in meetings and their effective participation in the committee’s work,” Devnani said.
Chairpersons present at the meeting also shared suggestions to make the committees more active, the statement said.
