New Delhi, Jul 4 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the Modi government has no accountability as he cited reports of road cave-ins in a video he shared.

“There Is No Accountability – The roads will keep caving in, lives will continue to be lost, but Modi government will continue to collect taxes,” Gandhi said in Facebook post, as he shared a short video of road cave-ins on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and other places, along with excerpts from the prime minister’s speech on creating world-class infrastructure.

The video was titled ‘TINA: There is no accountability’.

The Congress leader’s attack came after a video of a portion of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway caving in went viral, prompting the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to suspend an engineer and a project manager even as it said the cave-in was triggered by water stagnation following rain.

“A culture of greed and disrespect towards other living beings is being propagated in India. The heavy breach and the crumbling infrastructure around us are the consequences of this greed,” Gandhi said in the video.

He also shared a part of his speech made in Parliament where he said, “For the prime minister, the nation is above your image and above your politics. Do not sacrifice national interest for your own petty political gain.” Announcing the suspension orders, the NHAI said in a statement that it has also issued show-cause notices to the concerned project director, authority engineer and EPC contractor.

The road surface cave-in observed on the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor on July 1 was the result of localised water stagnation following rainfall the previous night, coupled with constraints in commissioning the permanent cross-drainage system at the location, the NHAI said. PTI SKC ARI
