Gayaji (Bihar), Oct 10 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday accused Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders of attempting to create an atmosphere of anarchy by campaigning against the EC and the SIR exercise.
Yadav, who arrived here to perform ‘pind daan’ rituals for his ancestors on the last day of Pitru Paksha, told reporters that opposition leaders should respect the democratic process and the people’s mandate.
“India is a democratic country where people exercise their right to vote to elect governments and determine the role of political parties in power and opposition. However, Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders are repeatedly attempting to create an atmosphere of anarchy in the country,” he said.
Yadav alleged that the Congress had adopted contradictory positions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), accepting it as legitimate in states where it was in power while opposing it elsewhere.
“The Opposition has a responsibility….. to respect the people’s mandate and fulfil its democratic role.. Such conduct is highly condemnable. Democracy is strengthened not by allegations, but by facts and the trust of the people,” he said.
Yadav also claimed that the Congress had been electorally marginalised in Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh and said the party needed to introspect.
