Ludhiana, Jun 18 (PTI) A 26-year-old woman scaled a 220-foot mobile tower and refused to climb down, seeking police help in a domestic dispute on Wednesday, police said.
Gamgam Devi came down after seven hours after police and villagers assured her of action on her complaint.
Speaking to reporters, she said that she married labourer Paltu Mandal six years ago and they have four children.
She alleged that about a year back, her husband started living with another woman, Sonali Devi, in the same house without ending their marriage.
She claimed repeated complaints to her husband were ignored and she was beaten up again on Wednesday morning. Distressed, she climbed the tower around 7 am and raised an alarm.
Police and locals rushed to the spot and kept persuading her.
Her main demand was that the other woman be removed from her home. She finally agreed to descend after officials promised to register her complaint and look into the matter.
Police said there was no record of a legal marriage between Paltu Mandal and Sonali Devi.
