Chandigarh, Aug 28 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said that the people of Punjab are “fed up” with the AAP government and have made up their minds for a change.

He alleged the AAP government has ruined Punjab and has even surpassed the previous Congress government in corruption. The people of Punjab have, therefore, resolved to form a BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and make Punjab a strong, developed and well-governed state, he said.

Saini was addressing a BJP rally at Baba Bakala Sahib in Amritsar district on the occasion of Rakhar Punya.

The BJP for the first time set up its political stage at the Rakhar Punya fair. Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon, and other senior BJP leaders, including Tarun Chugh, Sunil Jakhar, Vijay Sampla, Ashwani Sharma and Manpreet Badal, were also present.

Saini said that when a BJP government is formed in Punjab after the next elections, Haryana’s successful public welfare models will also be implemented in the state.

During his address, Chouhan tore into the ruling AAP in Punjab, alleging that they have outdone even the Congress in corruption. Chouhan told the people that they have tried all other parties and they should now give one chance to the BJP, and promised that it will transform the state.

Earlier, Chouhan also paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

CM Saini said everyone must work together to take Punjab forward on the path of development and good governance while safeguarding the faith, culture and honour of its sacred land.

Extending greetings on Raksha Bandhan, Saini said that being among the people on this historic and revolutionary land felt not like attending a political gathering, but like being among the family.

Saini said that safeguarding Punjab’s faith, protecting the hard work of its farmers, securing the future of its youth, ensuring the honour of women and protecting the Majha region along the country’s border constitute the BJP’s resolve.

Saini said the people of Punjab and Haryana share a centuries-old bond of brotherhood. The culture, traditions and sentiments of the two states are deeply intertwined. PTI SUN MNK MNK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
