Chandigarh, Jun 15 (PTI) House-to-house enumeration under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will commence across Punjab from June 25 and will continue till July 24, officials said on Monday.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every household to verify voter details and collect enumeration forms, they said.

In preparation for the statewide exercise, a review meeting was organized by Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra under the chairmanship of Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India, according to an official release.

The meeting was held with the district election officers (DEOs) of SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Ropar, and SBS Nagar.

Mitra briefed the deputy election commissioner on the state’s electoral framework comprising five divisions, 23 districts, and 117 constituencies, with a total of 24,453 polling stations across 14,664 locations. She further said that Punjab has achieved 85.82 per cent of voter mapping.

The Punjab CEO said the state-level three-day training programme for electoral registration officers, assistant EROs, election tehsildars and technical staff has been successfully completed, while district-level trainings for BLOs and supervisors are currently underway.

Printing of electoral materials is in progress and will be completed before the commencement of the house-to-house verification phase, she said.

She emphasized the coordinated efforts being undertaken across the state to ensure a seamless and efficient revision exercise.

During the session, Deputy Election Commissioner Yeturu stressed the importance of ensuring accuracy, inclusiveness, and transparency in the electoral rolls.

He reviewed the preparedness of each district’s field machinery and implementation protocols designed to guarantee that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible entry is included.

The meeting also underscored the critical role of BLOs in conducting door-to-door verification and assisting voters in filling enumeration forms. Directions were issued to ensure timely completion of the exercise and to enhance voter awareness through outreach campaigns, the release said. PTI CHS KVK KVK
