Chandigarh, Oct 12 (PTI) Seventeen lady cadets of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI), Mohali, have cracked the National Defence Academy written examination, officials said.
Calling it a historic feat, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora said the feat achieved by the lady cadets validates Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government’s decision to start the NDA preparatory wing for girls at Mai Bhago AFPI, asserting that this is just the beginning and results will get even better in the coming years.
According to a statement released here on Monday, these 17 lady cadets have cracked the written exam in a system where only 6 per cent of NDA seats are earmarked for women against 94 per cent for men.
They have shattered the glass ceiling in a male-dominated bastion, a statement by the institute said.
Congratulating the cadets, their families and the faculty, Aman Arora said, “I am immensely proud of the 17 lady cadets of Mai Bhago AFPI. This is not just the victory of these young women, but a historic moment for Punjab.”
This result is a resounding endorsement of our government’s vision to empower our daughters with world-class training. Mai Bhago AFPI stands as a beacon of excellence today, the minister said.
Mai Bhago AFPI works under the umbrella of the Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Department and has a fully residential campus.
