Latur, Jun 28 (PTI) A group of people in Latur held a protest on Saturday against what they claim is rampant destruction of trees by civic authorities and utility firms.

The immediate trigger was the uprooting of three large trees on Friday by a earth moving machine when cement blocks were being laid on the road from Gul Market Chowk to the local railway station.

The “half-naked” protest by more than 2000 persons was to make the indifferent authorities aware of their negligence, which is robbing the city of its green cover, said Pawan Ladda of Green Latur Vraksha Foundation, which organised the stir. PTI COR BNM
