Prostitution racket busted in Thane; three women rescued

Thane, May 22 (PTI) The police have busted a prostitution racket operating out of a hotel near the Thane railway station and arrested a woman allegedly involved in the illegal activity, an official said on Friday.

Three women who had allegedly been forced into prostitution were rescued during the operation on Wednesday, senior inspector Vaishali Gorde of the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of Thane police.

“During the raid, our team caught a woman pimp red-handed,” the official said.

The rescued women have been sent to Shantivan Ashram, a shelter home in Ulhasnagar, for rehabilitation, the official stated, adding that further investigation into the racket is underway. PTI COR NR
