Amaravati, Jun 13 (PTI) The ruling TDP on Saturday accused the five-year YSRCP rule between 2019 and 2024 of leaving Andhra Pradesh with debt, uncertainty, and stalling the state’s development.
TDP spokesperson Deepak Reddy said the TDP-led NDA alliance government, which stormed to power in 2024 with a brute majority of 164 seats, is restoring confidence, attracting investments, and creating opportunities.
“YSRCP ruled for five years and left Andhra Pradesh with debt, uncertainty, and stalled development. The NDA alliance is rebuilding the state, restoring confidence, attracting investments, and creating opportunities. The people want progress, not propaganda,” Reddy told PTI.
At a time when YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the current political dispensation of “doing nothing but deception, scams and fraud” in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP spokesperson said the NDA government first prioritised stabilising the state’s finances.
Observing that the state government is implementing welfare and development in phases, he said responsible governance means delivering sustainable benefits, not making reckless announcements.
Accusing the previous YSRCP government of failing to complete major irrigation projects, Deepak Reddy said the coalition government is accelerating irrigation projects such as the Polavaram Project and other irrigation works.
“Focus is on increasing agricultural productivity and creating long-term support systems. Farmers need development and market opportunities, not political drama,” he said.
Refuting YSRCP’s allegations that women are being cheated, the senior TDP leader underscored that they are benefiting from bus travel and other welfare initiatives.
The government is promoting women’s safety, self-employment, and economic empowerment, he said, adding that women’s welfare remains a core priority of the alliance government.
According to Deepak Reddy, YSRCP’s reign saw industries leaving Andhra Pradesh and investments declining, which the NDA government is bringing back by restoring investor confidence.
New industrial projects are expected to generate employment opportunities, he said, underlining that the focus is on creating jobs, not just making promises.
In the greenfield capital city of Amaravati, he asserted that the YSRCP is “levelling allegations without evidence,” calling them mere political accusations.
Further, he said the historic mandate in 2024 for the NDA alliance reflects public dissatisfaction with the YSRCP governance and highlighted that the coalition government is committed to fulfilling the trust placed in it by the people. PTI STH ADB
