New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu met with a group of prominent women working in India’s aviation sector at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The interaction, part of the “The President with the People” initiative, aimed to highlight the contributions of these women and foster a closer connection with citizens, a PIB press release stated.
During the meeting, President Murmu commended the significant role women play in various operational and technical areas of the civil aviation sector. She cited statistics showcasing the increasing presence of women in the field, noting that 15 percent of Air Traffic Controllers, 11 percent of flight dispatchers, and 9 percent of aerospace engineers are women. Furthermore, she highlighted that 18 percent of pilots who received commercial licenses last year were women.
The President attributed this progress to the inclusive efforts of the Indian government, which have encouraged more women to pursue careers in aviation. However, she stressed the need for continued efforts to ensure equal opportunities for women within the industry.
President Murmu emphasized the importance of family support in addition to education and training. She urged women achievers to guide other women in choosing their careers and pursuing their dreams.
