Shimla, May 20 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday said it is equally important to preserve cultural values in a rapidly changing world, along with economic progress.

He was addressing the Yuva Sangam programme organised under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala.

Students from NIT Puducherry were also present as part of the national integration programme.

During his address, the governor encouraged young people to utilise modern technology, artificial intelligence, innovation and startup ideas not only to find jobs, but also to create employment opportunities for others.

“Yuva Sangam is an important platform for promoting national unity, cultural harmony and youth empowerment. India’s diversity is its greatest strength and such programmes help young people understand and respect the cultures, traditions and values of different regions of the country,” he said.

Appreciating the university for successfully organising the event, the governor said the initiative provides students with an opportunity to experience the true spirit of India.

“Our languages, food habits, dress and traditions may be different, but the soul of India is one” he added.

The governor urged the students to work and come forward to protect the spirit and true identity of the country.

He also spoke about the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh and encouraged visiting students to interact with local people and learn more about the state’s traditions and social life. PTI COR KSI KSI
