New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) The Delhi Traffic Police on Monday issued an advisory announcing special traffic arrangements in central Delhi in view of the declaration of election results in five states, with a large gathering of supporters and dignitaries expected at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.
According to the advisory, commuters have been asked to avoid DDU Marg on both carriageways till 10 pm on May 4 due to elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, as congestion is likely in the surrounding areas, including Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and ITO Chowk.
“If required, traffic may be diverted from DDU Marg,” the advisory stated, adding that motorists should plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience.
The police also suggested alternate routes for those heading towards the New Delhi Railway Station. Commuters can take ITO Chowk–Outer Circus–Chelmsford Road or opt for BSZ Marg–Kotla Cut–Mata Sundari Lane–Mirdard Chowk–Minto Road. Another route via Delhi Gate Chowk–JLN Marg–Minto Road has also been recommended.
Motorists have been urged to remain patient, follow traffic rules and cooperate with personnel deployed at key intersections for smooth movement. PTI SGV SGV MPL MPL
