Imphal, Sep 24 (PTI) A police team was dispatched on Thursday to a remote village in Manipur’s Kamjong district near the Myanmar border after being informed that four people were shot dead by suspected militants, an officer said.
However, there was no confirmation about the killing till late evening, he said.
Residents of Pilong village near the Myanmar border claimed that four Naga civilians were shot dead by suspected militants from across the international boundary.
“Villagers claimed that four persons were killed when militants from neighbouring Myanmar crossed the border and attacked five people. One of them managed to escape and reported the incident to the villagers and the local authorities. The killing has not been confirmed. A police team has been dispatched to ascertain the claim,” the officer said.
The village is located some 34 km from Kamjong district headquarters. PTI CORR BDC
