Mumbai, Jul 1 (PTI) Police personnel have been deployed outside the home of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Sachin Ahir, a day after he filed nomination for the election to the post of Maharashtra Legislative Council deputy chairperson as the candidate of the ruling Shiv Sena.
A police van and two constables have been stationed outside Ahir’s residence at the Goolrukh building in Worli, an official said.
Supporters have started visiting Ahir after his Tuesday’s move, necessitating a police presence outside his residence, the official added.
Ahir, a close aide of Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, submitted his nomination as the Mahayuti candidate in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis (BJP) and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde, who heads the Shiv Sena, and Sunetra Pawar (NCP).
The development came a week after 6 rebel Lok Sabha MPs of the Uddhav Thackeray-led party joined the Shinde-headed Shiv Sena. PTI ZA NR
