New Delhi, Oct 10 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Sunday visit Chennai, where he will kickstart development projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore.

During his visit, the prime minister will ride the Chennai Metro from Porur Bypass Station to Poonamallee Bypass Station and back, and pray at the Jalakandeswarar Temple.

He will also attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School in the city, an official statement said.

A walkthrough of the Brain Centre at IIT Madras is part of Modi’s itinerary.

The prime minister will lay the foundation stone or inaugurate development projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore and address the gathering, the statement said.

The projects to be inaugurated include the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, built at Rs 4,900 crore.

The prime minister will either open or lay the foundation stone of National Highway projects worth around Rs 3,700 crore.

Modi will inaugurate the 36-km, four-laned Vadugapatti-Therkuvenganallur section of NH-744.

The project will improve connectivity to key pilgrimage, industrial and commercial centres in the region.

He will inaugurate a 30-km four-laned Madurai Ring Road section of NH-744A. The stretch will improve traffic movement around Madurai.

The prime minister will lay the foundation stone of the four-lane Thiruvarur Bypass on the Nagapattinam-Thanjavur section of NH-83.

The project will strengthen road connectivity in Thiruvarur and facilitate smoother traffic movement by providing an alternative route around the town.

Railway infrastructure projects worth over Rs 750 crore will also be inaugurated. PTI ACB VN
